The fundamental and most important understanding we can have about how we create is our creative life energy goes flow to create an experience of that on which we focus our attention and awareness. Alternatively said, our energy goes where we focus our attention and awareness. Hence it is essential to have a very clear intention held as a single point focus. However, it needs to be understood, we can focus our attention and awareness consciously, subconsciously and unconsciously.

A conscious focus of our attention and awareness is to look at something, think about something or actively contemplating something. To consciously focus our attention and awareness we can do what is done in contemplation and/or a meditation practice. Such things as repeating a mantra, looking at some symbol, holding some particular yogic position and the like are ways we consciously focus. Yet, anything that keeps our attention and awareness focused is adequate such as the use of a muse, contemplation, reading material, movies, TV shows, a view of nature, rituals, ceremonies, or anything else or any activity which inspires us. One important aspect of holding the focus of our attention and awareness is what also instills passion and a desire to act to create. The more passion the object of our focus holds, the greater our capability to manifest it. This is why the muse can be so effect. The muse by its very definition inspires and causes the passion to create to arise.

Subconscious focusing of attention and awareness is done by our belief structure, the beliefs we hold, our memories and how we hold and bind our creative life energy in those memories. It doesn’t matter if we judge a particular memory good or bad, pleasurable or painful. Any memory which holds any amount of energy is a subconscious focus of our attention and awareness. We can choose to subconsciously focus our attention and awareness. For example, we can create a ritual, ceremony or an experience which holds great emotional energy for us. By working with our memories through activities like emotionally filled rituals and experiences we can change our subconscious programming to fit our creative needs. Similarly, someone can program us by creating an emotionally filled experience in which we somehow participate or observe and then carry the memory of that experience. The intent of many advertisements are to attach a product or service to our emotionally filled memories so that we associate the product/service with the feelings of that memory.

Unconscious focusing of our attention and awareness is to solidify or bind our creative life energy to a relative fixed, if not rigidly fixed form. For example, our creative spirit incarnating into a human body fixes and binds our creative life energy to the human experience for the duration of our body’s life. Some habits border on the subconscious and unconscious in terms of how rigid they are. Unconscious focused attention and awareness is very difficult to change. To change this focus, we need to access the intention for our life and/or change what it means to be human. This seems difficult to do. But we do it quite frequently in today’s world. Many of the miracles of modern science have changed what it means to be human and/or allowed some of us to move past the limitations of our body created by our unconscious focus of our attention and awareness.

Our challenge is to become very clear on what we desire to create and surface the subconscious and/or unconscious focus of our attention and awareness which may be robbing us of our creative power and creative ability which is directing them in a way that is unsupportive of what we desire to create. The advice and method as to how to go about doing this work is as varied as there are people. The recommendation made here is to ask your intuitive guidance “What do I need to do and/or what does it look like that I need to do to surface ....(whatever).” Then honor the intuitive guidance that you receive.
